The Effect of Workplace Wellness Programs on Employee Mental Health and Productivity

Elena Petrova¹, James O’Connor², Sunita Iyer³

Abstract

Workplace wellness programs have been proposed as effective interventions to improve employee mental health and productivity. This longitudinal study evaluated the outcomes of a comprehensive workplace wellness program including stress management workshops, mindfulness sessions, and ergonomic interventions in 1,200 employees across four corporate organizations. Mental health outcomes were assessed using the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) and productivity metrics were measured via absenteeism and self-reported performance. Post-intervention analysis demonstrated a 30% reduction in reported stress levels, improved mental well-being scores, and a 15% decrease in absenteeism. Employee satisfaction with the program was high, with 82% expressing a positive impact on their work-life balance. These findings support the integration of structured wellness programs in organizational health policies to enhance both employee well-being and productivity.
