Assessment of Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices Regarding COVID-19 Vaccination in Urban Communities

Lucas Romero¹, Sarah Wang²

Abstract

Vaccination against COVID-19 is critical for pandemic control, yet vaccine hesitancy remains a major barrier. This cross-sectional study assessed knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding COVID-19 vaccination among 1,200 adults in urban communities. Structured questionnaires measured awareness of vaccine safety, efficacy, side effects, and willingness to vaccinate. Results indicated that 78% of participants were aware of COVID-19 vaccines, but only 62% had been vaccinated, with concerns about side effects and misinformation cited as primary barriers. Higher education level, access to credible health information, and prior influenza vaccination were positively associated with vaccine uptake (p<0.05). Community-targeted educational campaigns, engagement of local leaders, and improved vaccine accessibility were identified as key strategies to enhance vaccination coverage.
